Crystal Mosque (Masjid
Kristal) |
|

I have heard so much talks about Mesjid Kristal in KT
(Kuala Trengganu) and told myself that one day I should
visit it if I have the opportunity to be in Trengganu. It
happened that on Friday, 20th June 208 I found myself in
Kuala Trengganu. My wife and I decided that day to take a
drive to Taman Tamadun Islam, where the Mesjid Kristal is
located. |

|
Taman Tamadun Islam is located near Kg Losong, a
few kilometres from KT. It was drizzling that day when we left
KT. We stopped at a roadside stall to buy the "keropok leko", a
favourite food among the locals and my favourite too. We reached the State Museum first before we
finally reached the place where Mesjid Kristal was located. I
didn't have the time to visit the Trengganu State Museum but I
heard that it's the biggest in Malaysia, much bigger than our
National Museum. If you are going to visit the Mesjid Kristal
one day, I suggest you allow some time to visit the Museum too. My
first impression when I first saw the mosque was that it was a
beautiful mosque. It is located on the right bank of the
Trengganu River and accesible by good metalled roads built on
reclaimed land. The dome and the four pillars are wrapped in
metal plates which looked like bronze material. Each panel
reflects the lights at certain angles which thus provides the
"crystal" looks. |

If you happen to be in Kuala Trengganu, I would
recommend you to visit the Mesjid Kristal because I
think it is worthwhile your visit. I didn't have the
opportunity to visit the Taman Tamadun Islam where
miniatures of all the famous mosques in the world are
displayed. Presently, the place is opened to visitors
only up to 7.00 pm. The place looks like generally it is still under construction
and I believe that once completed, it should draw more
"outside" tourists to the place. |

No.5 - I guess we didn't explain clearly to our
10-year-old Mena
(the photographer) that we wanted the mosque to be
clearly shown in the background :) | |
